Lone Løvschal MA (RCA) – The Danish Silversmiths

DS_LogoBlackOnWhiteLone Løvschal was trained as a silversmith at Georg Jensen in Copenhagen and has a Master of Arts from the Royal College of Art in London. She designs domestic tableware for contemporary food culture in which the pleasure of proper dining is a luxury that is only enjoyed occasionally. The daily meal covers the individuals’ basic physiological needs, whereas the social and emotional needs are covered by the cosy weekend dinner in company of good friends or family.

Lone believe that the pleasure of dining, be it daily or occasional, can be intensified through seductive and enjoyable tableware, just like the food itself. Therefore her aim is to create objects that are sensuous and tempting, that invite handling, pouring and serving. By using organic and fluid forms, curved elegant lines and a strong graphic idiom she creates objects for the senses. She finds great pleasure in designing for mass production as well as limited series or one-offs, and the way a piece of work is made is always of great interest to her. Technical considerations are not a hindrance to her creativity and feed into the development of a design.

Contemporary British Silversmiths is very grateful to the Danish Arts Foundation for its support bringing Lone Løvschal to collaborate on this project.DanishArtsFound_LOGO_CMYK
