The form of Anna Lorenz’ ‘Urban’ Candleholder is inspired by dense cityscapes, architectural spaces and reflections about society.
Anna Lorenz is interested in examining the importance of communication and the ritual sharing and celebration in gathering around a table. Anna’s design involved researching visual references, reading and consideration of the subject matter. She photographed architecture and urban spaces that reflected the quality she sought to achieve in her work and which supported her early sketches and design thinking.
Her principle design method was model making, often directly in metal, to test both details and the overall design. Constructed of two interlocking cylinders The grid was cut by pressing with a die, the base fabricated and attached with bayonet fitting.
